What we've been doing in class
Investigating shadows
The children have enjoyed our latest science topic, light. We have had fun investigating how shadows change size, depending on how close objects are to a light source.
Trip to Knowsley Safari Park
We had a great day at Knowsley Safari Park. We spotted lions, baboons, camels, rhinos, antelopes, tigers, ostriches and many more! We also saw a fantastic sea lion show.
French
Salut! This half term we have enjoyed learning some French phrases. We have learnt:
- Different ways of saying hello and goodbye
- What is your name? My name is...
- How are you? I'm feeling...
- Numbers 1-10
- How old are you? I am ... years old
There are some videos below showing off our new French conversation skills!

Fantastic writing
The children have been working so hard over the past few weeks with their writing. We have written lots of 'Roman themed' pieces, including a Boudicca wanted poster, a newspaper report detailing Boudicca's battle and a Gladiator story. There are a few examples above. Well done, Year 3. :-)
Plants
The children have really enjoyed our science topic, Plants. They have produced some great work. We have been investigating how water is transported in plants, using celery. We have also been investigating what conditions plants need for growth. We will see the results after the Easter holidays!
Show don't tell
This week, the children have done a fantastic job at using the 'show don't tell' technique. They practised creating a clear picture in the reader's mind by using description to show a character's emotions. I have really enjoyed reading their work.

Home Learning 2021
As Home Learning comes to an end, I would like to say a massive well done to all of the children for working so hard. They have coped extremely well with the situation and I have been so pleased with their enthusiasm. They have engaged very well with online lessons and have managed to produce some great work at home. Well done, everyone!
I would also like to say a big thank you to parents who have made home learning possible. I know it may not have been easy at times but you have all done a fantastic job.
Here's a picture Maddie drew which I love!
See you all soon.

We have danced, played party games, eaten party food, completed Christmas activities, made decorations, drunk hot chocolate, watched films, listened to Christmas stories, written letters to Father Christmas, took part in the Lower Key Stage 2 Christmas Quiz, had fun at swimming... and much more!
We hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in January. Thank you children and parents for all gifts received by us, it's very much appreciated.
