What we've been doing in class
Pentecost Windmills - Mrs Owen has been in year 6 to help teach us with our unit of 'Pentecost - what happened next.' We created windmills with the story of Pentecost on the inside! Don't they look good!
Mayan Madness - We finished our Mayan topic by decorating skulls with Mayan patterns! The day of the dead is a big tradition in central and south America and these designs fit right in - well done year six!
Scrooge Rap
We read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and then we read the reimagined version, a poem by Tony Mitton. We've been busily writing our own version and even decided to rap the final verse! Take a look....
We pride ourselves on how amazing all our books look at St. Andrew's, but none more so than our topic books! We have been working really hard on our Britain at war topic and we'd like to share with you a look at some of the work we we have created so far.
One of our writing topics this half term has been creating a story based on The Jabberwocky! We think these are ace!! We can't wait for you to see them in our books - unless you're too scared...!!
In our first assembly of the year, Mrs Owen challenged us to design 'Peace Mandalas'. There's a selection pictured below and we think she will be very pleased by our efforts.
Music
During our music and topic lessons we have been looking at the music from the World Wars. Have a look at the dance we learnt from WW2 and the music of Glen Miller! Roll on the dance festival...
