Chinese New Year
CHINESE NEW YEAR
In Nursery we have been learning about Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the horse and we were born in either the year of the ox or the tiger. We read The Great Race about twelve animals racing in the river. Rat cheated and even pushed the cat off the ox. We learnt that red is a lucky colour and made red and gold lanterns. We also made a money wallet with a gold chocolate coin because children are given these as presents. We wrote Chinese numbers and some animal names and painted a Chinese flag. We also danced to loud music, 'A dragon dance' using some Chinese instruments. Laura from 'Reflections' came to teach us a sequence too. We also went outside to throw fun snaps which made a loud banging noise. In our 'Only One You' books, we painted a special 'cherry blossom' using cotton wool buds. We then performed a special assembly for our Mums and Dads. What a fun two weeks. Gung Hay Fat Choy!
