Owl Babies
Owl Babies
By Martin Waddell
This half term, one of our core stories we have enjoyed listening to was 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell. We enjoyed discussing as a class all about owls and learning about where they live and what they eat. We were then introduced to the word ‘nocturnal’ and learnt that this is when an animal is awake at night. We learnt that an owl is nocturnal!
We then put our new knowledge learnt into action as we had a visit from the 'Cheshire Falconry Centre' where they showed us lots of different owls including: a Barn owl called Sam, an African owl called Nico and a baby owl called Podrick that was very cute! The owls had the chance to fly around the room and show us their huge wings. We were all very excited to see them fly!
Afterwards, we all had the chance to hold and stroke Walter the owl; we all agreed that Walter had very soft feathers. We had a fantastic time and will never forget our owl visit in Nursery!
